DevLog#2 The art behind STIM!
Hi all!
For this devlog we’ll be talking about our art.
I’m the lead artist Vulcan Chertaraev, also doing art is Hubert Matijuk.
Once we decided on what type of game, we would be making the first thing Hubert and I discussed was what would our theme be. We ended up settling for Sci-Fi and Extra-terrestrial Resources.
Next up was what mood we wanted. We wanted the game to feel playful and non-serious and knew realism would not create that feeling, as well as it being too intense for VR. We decided an amalgamation of 2D pixel art and 3D voxel art with a comic book/cartoon style would accurately portray the mood and theme we wanted to create while being optimised enough for VR.
So far for our game, we’ve just been focusing on getting all the basic concept art done and I feel as a team we’ve really nailed creating sci-fi plants and other natural resources that easily show what is harvestable from them. For example, OCN-8 nicknamed “Ink” is harvested from a tentacle-like plant which is self-explanatory.
And as a little inside joke, we’ve photoshopped our friends into alien customers!
More soon to come! Over and out.
